Applications are open for the 2024 Summer Youth Session!

Join us for the 4th Annual Session of Qmunity Camp NWT, August 8-14th at the Camp Connections Site on the Ingraham Trail on Chief Drygeese, Akaitcho Territory outside of Yellowknife, Northwest Territories. 

Qmunity Camp NWT provides on the Land programming to support Northern 2SLGBTQIPA+ youth connect with identity, Land, culture and community. 

Applications are open to youth age 12-17 living in the NWT, NU and YT who self identify as 2SLGBTQIPA+ and/or are questioning their identities. Please note priority will be given to those who self-identify as multi intersectional, ie. Indigenous/Black/Person of the Global Majority.

 

Our site is completely off-grid with no cell reception, and has a beautiful river and sandy spots for sand castles! Qmunity Camp NWT provides Northern 2SLGBTQIPA+ youth with a safe, inclusive, supportive and creative space to find themselves, connect with like-minded youth, and learn more about gender, sexuality and identity. We made this space to make 2SLGBTQIPA+ youth feel loved and accepted so they can remain connected to their communities and culture, while celebrating their Traditional identities.  

Our on-site staff includes:

  • Camp Director

  • Camp Support

  • Camp Cook

  • Camp Site Maintenance

  • Camp Leaders

  • Leaders in Training

  • 1 First Aider

  • 1 Mental Health Professional

  • 2 Super Cute Pups (Morti and Radagast)

Our camp schedules changes session to session but you can expect the following types of activities:

  • Circle Discussions Surrounding Gender, Sexuality and Body Positivity

  • Traditional Arts and Land Based Skill Building Activities

  • Guided Day Canoe Trip 

  • Arts Activities Exploring Gender Expression

  • Expressive Arts

  • 3 Meal Times And 2 Snacks, Daily

  • Daily ceremonies

  • Educational workshops on gender and identity

    All campers' expenses are covered thanks to our sponsors. There is no charge to any participant for attending or travelling to Qmunity Camp NWT. We will make all attempts to accommodate special medical, nutritional, and personal needs. Please be honest about your needs; we will work with you as much as possible to ensure you have the best time at Camp! While we are in session, our camp remains closed to the public to ensure the safety of all campers and staff.
